This IWC Ingenuier is 1 of 1000 released and was made to commemorate the heritage of IWC's brand partner, Mercedes. Ingenieur is French for engineer and the name highlights the intended function of the watch, to be worn by those who were track side at races. The watch features complications suited to timing motor racing.The flyback feature on the chronograph means that lap times are easily recorded, and the hacking seconds function allows the watch to be set to a specific reference point accurately. The watch is named the Silver Arrow or Silber Feil after the Mercedes-Benz M25 cars which were dominant in Grand Prix motor racing between 1931-1937. An impression of the car can be seen engraved into the caseback. The name of the car was derived from the fact that the designated colour of German racing was silver and the unpolished and unpainted aluminium panels of the M25 gave the car an iconic aesthetic.
